Q: Will you wait to win the case and collect a judgment before being paid?

A: I will not, although some lawyers will. If you have a serious personal injury, lawyers will wait to be paid but I do not do that type of case. Litigation of any case will take months, sometimes over a year. Then the collection process begins. Real estate and business litigation cases will take a year or two. I need to be paid out of retainer, and then on a monthly basis after that to run my business. I also find that the payment of my fees helped to gage a client’s commitment to their own case.
